I'm Laurie Grassi, a freelance editor, blogger + creative sort extraordinaire. Most of my work life has been spent in the world of design – specifically interior design and homes magazines and websites – but I've also played in the area of entertainment and women's general interest publications.
I'm currently the books editor at Chatelaine, and was previously the editor of special issues at Canadian House & Home and the executive editor of Style at Home magazine.
To top that off, I'm an animal lover, traveler, baker when time permits, eternal optimist, and entirely organized sort! What do I value most? My family and friends – sounds clichéd, perhaps, but it's a lonely world out there when you have no one to laugh with and count on.
Below are some of the things that inspire me and lend joy to everyday living. In The Colour Purple, Alice Walker wrote: "I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it…. People think pleasing God is all God care about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back."
Me, I try to keep an eye out for those things the universe is trying to please us with! And, yes, I do have a thing for exclamation marks and have no problem admitting it – life is short, so exclaim away!!
